Month 2.... What to do with my fledgling business and where do I go from here

by Dani Parker,  No one could expect that we would have not one but 2 of the coldest days here on record, so those days were a wash.  That was ok though, I now had the ability to stay home with my kids since they had school canceled.  No panicking if I were going to get in trouble at work because I couldn't secure child care.  With the success of my first 3 weeks, I was able to have piece of mind that my children were safe and we would be ok if I wasn't working.  The extra time has provided the opportunity to invest time in my business's voice.  Who is my business for? Who do I market to? What makes my business special among all the rest.  I decided very early on, that it was me.  Focus on my people like I always have and stay true to me.  In this time I also wrote my business's mission statement: Maintain, restore and help give confidence in every way possible to whomever walks through my door. By: Dani Parker  For the past 9 years, I have been the Lead Esthetician for 2 luxury spas here in downtown Ann Arbor.  I loved my job and I loved my team of estheticians but in the end I wanted the freedom to be able to perform the services that my clients needed.  With that freedom, it is also liberating to be able to try new products and ingredients.  New skincare services, wax products, tools and materials.  The choice was clear that it was now or never that I would have to set out on my own. Having been in the beauty industry for a decade and a half now has also given me a good set of "street smarts" when it comes to seeing what others have done before me.  What works and what doesn't.  When to stick with something and when to let go.  Now its time to put my money where my mouth is and get started.   Not wanting to be too top heavy and take on more than I could afford it was important to choose the right space for me.  ...
